I’m getting the hang of this garden thing, for the most part. After mourning the death of my lone spaghetti squash last week…
See that shriveled up area? That was my squash. I guess I didn’t hand pollinate it as well as I thought I did.
I picked these delicious veggies today!
I picked 3 sweet peppers, 1 “regular” tomato, many yellow cherry tomatoes, and one onion. Several other onions could be picked, but I’m going to wait a day or so before I harvest them.
I can’t wait to enjoy these lovely veggies with my crab salad tonight (see recipe here)!
What’s your favorite way to enjoy fresh veggies?

We harvested green bell peppers today from our garden and we’re waiting for the tomatoes maybe in couple weeks.

Those look absolutely delicious, and you have the joy of knowing they were grown without ugly chemicals, too. – Fawn

Congrats Laurie! Those look absolutely delicious. I’ve harvested 8 lbs. of potatoes this last week; 2 lbs of German Butterball Heirloom, 4 lbs. Red Gold Heirloom and 1 lb. Russet from last year. I agree with Fawn that it is a joy knowing that everything coming from my garden is grown without chemicals.

Wow, good for you! Those look delicious!
We have so many squirrels that no garden veggies manage to survive. But my neighbors grow lots of peppers which they share.
My favorite thing is to split and clean them, then stuff them with cheeses and olives chopped and mixed. About 3-5 mins on the grill and we have an appetizer everyone loves!

I am still anxiously awaiting my own veggies being ready for harvest so I’ll admire yours meanwhile. They look delicious. I hope you enjoy them in as simple a recipe as possible like a summer salad or light sauté.

Congrats on the lovely veggies! Our favorite thing to do with the bell peppers is to roast then freeze them in two-cup amounts for later use tomato and roast red pepper soup.

A few years back I planted 3 spaghetti squash plants. My best friend LOVES them so I basically grew them for her. We had squash coming out our ears… those 3 plants took over the garden! I was able to sell some (it is crazy how many people don’t know about spaghetti squash), barter some, store some, and cook some. It was actually overwhelming so since then I only plant one plant. I might not get as many, but it is enough for us!

How sad about your spaghetti squash. I just harvested our first 5 last weekend. We did not need to hand pollinate at all, I haven’t heard of doing that for squash before. I am now under doc orders to cut down my tomato consumption, overdosed and the acid messed with my mouth!
